Let me say it! This year is not as direct appealing as the 2007 (which I think was really characteristic especially the von der fels 2007) – but for a Riesling junkie and lover like me which prefers mineral, acidity and slim structure it is a much more interesting vintage! Von der fels this year will again be a winner – with its appealing nature… In the noise it is very clean and pure with mainly citrus tones. The taste has green apples, yellow citrus fruit and pectin bitterness compound in the background. I would say less sweetness in the taste compared to the last two vintage (although I think it has the same residual sugar). The body of the wine has a fragile slimness that I really enjoy especially as it is combined with the extremely focused juicy acidity!!! For me this shows again that it does not matter if it says GG on the label when its taste like this….”This is a drinking wine not thinking wine for me” This has extremely high drinkability and what more can one demand?
