ÖKONOMIERAT REBHOLZ, "VOM MUSCHELKALK", PFALZ, SPÄTLESE TROCKEN, 2007

The nose has a tropical fruit tone and appears very opulent with traces of graphite and yeast. I have a little trouble with the nose initial but it develops to the better. The style and composition of the taste is really great. It is build up of several layer controlled by the juicy stringent and dominating acidity. In the primary layer one taste un-mature yellow citrus, lime fruit and carambole. Underneath the primary layer there are beautiful tones of herbs, tobacco and lime stone. Complex but not real so long aftertaste and finish– anyway it doesn’t matter because the juiciness really results in that one want to empty the bottle - what better parameter for the quality.

The Rebholz "Vom Muschelkalk" is a real interesting wine for me compared to the top wine Kastanienbusch. This wine is much more in balance and more my style with its lime stone tone, the juicy acidity and the minerality.

15.5/20
